Activities Aides provide terrific additional support to the many activities offered by the Allard Center by sharing knowledge and expertise of crafts and games, and other activities provided to our members.

There typically are many different tasks needing to be done in a busy branch location. Help is always greatly appreciated with things such as setting up or breaking down regular programs, cleaning areas, lending a hand with a maintenance project or tabling for new Y volunteers. These are just a few ways in which volunteers can share time and enthusiasm for the Y.

Our senior programming is active and engaging. As a senior program aide, you will share your knowledge about arts and crafts as well as help organize trips to various locations and other activities.

Camping Services

Come to camp and share your time, energy or skills while you provide valued assistance to the staff. A variety of needs exist for volunteers.

Over the course of a year, there are many smaller needs which warrant some help. This volunteer role provides extra hands where needed.

It's so fun to interact with little children - read them stories and play games - and help out the KidZone staff! This is a great manner in which to accrue some volunteer hours! KidZone is open in the morning and again in the later afternoon so parents can drop off their little children long enough to workout or attend a Y class.

This branch's special events cover a broad range and are typically family-friendly events. If you can help with setting up, during the event or with braking down, that would be so appreciated.

YMCA of Downtown Manchester

To support our members' needs, a food pantry has been created and will be open every Thursday afternoon. Offering basic food staples, this pantry is open from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm upstairs in the Downtown Y. Volunteers will set food out on the tables between 3:00 and 4:00 pm, and supervise members' filling a bag of groceries. Then, at 6:00pm, any remaining food will be stored back into the adjoining closet. This is a wonderful manner in which to help some individuals and families in need of nourishment. To see available dates and months, click on the calendar's arrow. NOTE: The pantry will be open on December 26 and January 2 for those needing some nourishment.

YMCA of Downtown Manchester

The Downtown Manchester YMCA is looking for volunteers to help with the Leaders Club programs we facilitate. YMCA Leaders Clubs are nationally and regionally recognized throughout the YMCA family. The clubs focus on developing the spirit, mind, and body of the participants. Junior Leaders are 6th-8th graders; Senior Leaders are 9th-12th graders. Volunteers will assist in implementing projects, programs, and discussions planned by the club advisors. Help is needed from 5:45-7:30 on Wednesdays each week during the school year.

The entrance to a facility makes a statement and we want anyone coming into the branch or arriving at Camp Gundalow to be greeted by a well groomed garden. This takes periodic maintenance and some replanting.

KidZone offers a place for parents to drop off a child while attending an on-site class or workout and know that their child is safe. Volunteers will work alongside of YMCA staff in providing games, stories, and arts and crafts to engage the children in a safe and caring environment with parents nearby.

This branch hosts various special events during the year. Healthy Kids Day, periodic parties, etc., and branch events need additional hands to help provide a great environment and fun for community attendees.

Helping in a few needed areas around the branch will be greatly appreciated. Clearing the pool deck, greeting members and guests and performing a bit of light cleaning in Wellness will provide assistance in meaningful ways.

Do you enjoy helping with swim lessons or aquatics classes for children, teens, adults and seniors? Wouldn't it be fun to assist with kids and special pool-related events?

YMCA of Downtown Manchester

Want to make a difference in the lives of children? Here at the YMCA, we believe in helping children reach their full potential and making memories that will last a lifetime. The Downtown YMCA is currently seeking volunteers who are able to provide one-on-one interactions and build positive relationships with our students. Our program's focus is on supplementing academics, especially with a focus on reading skills. Volunteers will act as role models for our after-school students. Volunteers will be asked to enter brief biographical information, complete a background check, provide names and email addresses for three references, and a complete a 20-minute online course regarding child abuse prevention. An instructor-led class on the importance of child abuse prevention may also be requested prior to assisting in these Y programs.
